Hi all. I’m not a real frequent poster, but I have a question I feel this group has to be the most qualified to answer. Why do so many knives and pocket tools have a can opener? On every leatherman, gerber multi-tool and Swiss Army knife I’ve ever had, there is a can opener. It is hands down the least often (never) used tool I carry. Even smaller tools that are supposedly “just the basics” have a can opener. I could see its use for camping maybe, or in a survival situation, but for daily carry? Do you ever if find your self with a can of creamed corn and no way to get into it? Why is the can opener so darn popular?
I’m not complaining mind you, just wondering. Seems like an odd item to be so universial.
