Because of my flexible schedule, I spend a lot of my time watching friends’ kids, all of whom are in the 7-10 year old range–same as my two. After a neighborhood kid got bitten in the face by a dog (not my dog, kid not in my charge), I realized how unprepared I am for any type of medical issues or emergencies.

The first thing I did was get basic medical info from kids’ parents. So question #1 is:
What information should I have, and how should I carry it?

The second thing I did was begin packing a FAK. I loaded a Maxpedition Micro Pocket Organizer with gauze, band-aids, anti-biotic pouches, alky wipes, Bic lighter, Benadryl, Tylenol, and one dosage of meds for anyone who takes them. I always have a two knives on me: a 3″ folder and a Colonial Tat Cutter hook knife. The organizer is in a larger pack with extra gauze, school supplies, and a bag of gum. Question #2:
What else should I carry, first aid or otherwise?

    Thanks.
