KeymasterIn my mind there are certain men’s coats/jackets that are iconic/classic and must haves for the dapper EDC enthusiast. Over the years I’ve collected them as best I can. If there is an iconic men’s jacket please let me know.
So here is my list of classic coats(that I own);
1)Bomber Jacket-I went high end with this one, buying North Face. I like the contrast of the expensive coat that looks like the 30$ Rothcos worn all over Bmore .
2)Trench Coat-the classic flasher’s coat. Plus Hellblazer was a hero.
3)Leather Biker Jacket-come on the Ramones alone make it iconic.
4)Camel Hair Blazer-hey it became acceptable with jeans in the 80s and sometime you have to”dress-up'”, so it comes in handy and comes out in the spring and fall on occasion because it”dresses-down” well too.
5)M-65 Field Coat-I went with the Alpha because I gathered from my review reading it was the best of the civilian versions available. It’s my newest coat, I went shopping for a pair of shorts and found one for 70$ and couldn’t resist.
6)Waxed Canvas Field Coat, Hooded-the hood isn’t so “classic” and I did have to wax it myself before it was truly waterproof(resistant), but once I did that it not only put a nice “patina”(I guess that’s the word for it?) on it to boot.
7)Fleece Jacket-I had one for almost twenty years that would still be going strong had it not been for a ex’s dog who “never chews anything” getting hold of the sleeve. I replaced it with a Condor but its not been cold enough to truly test out.
8)Windbreaker-add to the fleece and you can go almost anywhere. I lived at just under 10,000ft for years and you could go all winter with just those two.
9)Irish Tweed Coat-mine happens to be another filed coat style.
10)Down vest.
If there are any coats you consider to be classic let me know. One day I may motivate to take pics of them all, if you’ve got pics of yours by all means post ’em. -
