KeymasterBefore I became supervisor, I was on a 24 hr truck. We don’t stay at the station…we “post”, that is, for 24 hours we live in the ambulance, 24 on and 48 off. I put together a little pack of all the goodies that I could possibly need while inthe field…more for personal use than for work (I have a few extra work related items…ie: shears, constricting band, hemostat, thermometer, gloves, etc. Most of the stuff, however is like my own little OTC medicine cabinet.
This pouch goes in my EDC backpack, and holds quite a bit of junk.

gum
$1 coin
constricting band
penlight
notepad
drink mixes
allergy pill, antacids
pens, hi-lighter, sharpie
single use toothbrushes
thermometer
medic patch
shears
eye drops
zipfizz energy mix
sewing kit
hemostat
nerve-tonic (calms the caffeine/low sugar shakes…you know, for starting IV’s!) 😉
nuun electrolyte replacement
ibuprofen
acetaminophen
excedrin
lomotil (prescription anti diarrhea med)
batteries
Burt’s Bees lipbalms
Gold Bond
Tide stain eraser
glovesand two ball bearings. If you can guess why I have these, I’ll buy you a monkey.
I don’t get into this kit that often any more since I became supervisor and am off the 24’s…but I ALWAYS have it with me in my backpack. Looks like overkill on things like the eyedrops, yes…but if I get something in my eyes, I become neurotic…rubbing and picking until my eye becomes infected, so it’s kinda my thing.
