Hi Folks,
It’s now time that I call upon your vast wealth of knowledge to assist me in the selection of a new digital camera. I’m planning on getting a DSLR at some point, but for now, I want something a little more compact and thus EDC friendly. I was thinking about the Casio Exilim EX1000, which got great reviews online. But also, I’m wondering if there is anything out there for less money that’s going to give me the same bang for the buck? I’m looking for 8+ megapixels, image stabilization would be nice, but not an absolute requirement. Must be SD/MMC compatible (No Sony). I like the profile of a lot of Sony’s cameras, it’s just that all my other electronics utilize SD/MMC. PictBridge compatibility would be nice, as I have a printer that works seamlessly with that feature. I would also like a 16:9 display…I guess if that meant no optical viewfinder, I’d be OK with it, but that also means lower battery life as a result of using the LCD. Let’s see what you fine folks can come up with…Oh yeah, and the hard part…I’m looking to spend between $250-$400. I guess I could have this be my one and only Christmas gift, but I’d rather spend my own money. I was checking out some “kits” on B&H…I know that they’re expensive but I’ve bought from them in the past and been very satisfied. Thought? Thanks in advance.
Cheers!
Samson
