NOTE: Some of the info here is a re-cap from the original ‘Welcome….’ thread, for the benefit of those who were not aware of this offer.

Jon and I have been talking the last few weeks about what we could do together for the forum et all. As the owner of a design and production studio there’s much we can do but when we were deciding on an initial product offering, Jon suggested it be a backpack. The backpack in the video is based on another we currently have but the focus here is on the gear that we carry day in, day out. The original prototype was lugged all around the world for almost 2 years, clocking about 125K miles each year. Understandably there are some of us that like PALS webbing on the outside but we decided to keep this one slick. Although the design & concept is somewhat different, I kept the aesthetics basic, a nod to the original Eagle Industries A-III pack. Understandably no single design is going to appeal to everyone but Jon & I are hoping that most of you would appreciate the thought process and design that went into this backpack.

This EDC Backpack will be selling for $95 (a one-time special pricing for the EDC Forum gang) on the forum store. Some have asked as to why the pack is so well priced. Well most of the components are leftovers from a contract run so rather than letting materials go to waste we used up every bit we could to get about 100 of these produced in two colors; black and medium navy. This will be a one-time run, at least for now and we’ll take it from there.

Here’s the LINK to the forum store where all our products will be offered. FYI, Jon will be launching some of our accessories simultaneously. Jon plan’s to launch it sometime today so please check back as often as you can.

    Specs as follows:

    • 1000 denier Nylon.
    • 210 denier Nylon lining.
    • Milspec #17337 webbing.
    • Webbing carry handle.
    • WooJin hardware.
    • YKK coil lockable zippers.
    • Five (5) compartments in total
      • 2 front organizer pockets with reverse zippers.
      • Large main compartment with side cinch straps.
      • iPad/Tablet/Notebook padded compartment (will hold up to 15”).
      • And lastly a hidden pocket on bottom front of the backpack.
    • Side mesh pockets for water bottle, etc.
    • Close cell foam for padding..
    • Contoured padded shoulder straps with sternum strap.
    • Heavily padded rear with Air Mesh to aid in ventilation.
    • Internal frame sheet panel to reinforce back of backpack.
    • Approximately 32 liters

For anyone concerned about what to expect in terms of quality (and if I may toot my horn), SERT is known for one of the best rifle cases (where we got our start) in the industry. Our cases are used by the FBI HRT and the Marines Force Recon (4th Bn). Understandably we’ve evolved and expanded since our start, and we simply do not cut corners when it comes to our products so rest assured when it comes to the quality.

Some questions from the previous thread:

Q: Will it fit under the front seat on flights?
A: Absolutely, as long as you are not flying one of those regional jets that just have no space anywhere! I’ve tabbed quite a bit all over the world with the original prototype and when fully loaded it might a tad snug especially for someone like myself that has size 12 feet.

Q: How large of a laptop/notebook can that back padded compartment, shown in the video, hold?
A: That Windows notebook in the video was quite sizeable. I use it to test for fit in the packs for the benefit of those who prefer larger laptops, ie, gaming ones. Dimensionally, the one I used is 15.25″ x 9.75″ x 1.5″ and there was still a tad bit of top space as shown in the video.

Q: Will you offer international shipment for us European guys?
A: Whatever it takes to sort out our brethren worldwide. If there is any issue that arises from shipping, just let me know and I will sort it out.

Q: Will you be offering any other colors?
A: Right now only Black and Medium Navy. If the interest is there after this initial offering, I will look into other colors as well.

    Photos to follow!
