I’m slowly but surely working on building an Emergency Bag with a Rush 24. The bag will most likely spend its life in the toolbox of my truck. This leads me to a flashlight dilemma as where I live in the southern U.S. high heat and humidity are constant. It seems lithium batteries would be the best choice for this kind of environment. But what about CR123 batteries? I ask because ideally I would like to keep a Fenix PD35 in there as the primary light. It’s the light I use on duty, and thus, you can infer that I trust it in emergency situations. I know there’s a similar AA version, but it’s output is no where close of course. I have kept a Fenix TK35 (CR123 batteries) in my truck console since May last year and it still works fine. But then again it gets to cool off with AC in the cab every once in a while…

So will CR123 batteries be okay sitting in high heat and humidity constantly? Or do I need to stick to AA versions where I can use lithium batteries? What lights would you recommend in my situation? What lights do you keep in your emergency bags?

I should also mention I will be keeping the AA version of the Streamlight Siege lantern in the bag, the Black Diamond Storm headlamp, and will be picking out some smaller AA or AAA lights to keep in there as well for backups/extras.
