The part that’s hard to balance out is the number of people killed by things like a terrorist attack which scares everyone (but statistically is way over a million to one) vs. the folks in a drunken poker game or holiday dinner. Which happens way more often?

Around here at least there’s a heck of a lot of crimes involving people who are related or know each other. A large part of violent crime here is by folks who get angry and are drunk, drugged up, or both. Those crimes are committed by legal weapons, stolen firearms, and any brick, stick, knife, or bottle that’s handy. It gets used if it’s close at hand.

There’s a difference between people who have planned for a long time and those who just snap. What’s more common with those cases is groups who live in a culture of violence, live with violence, and think of violence as an acceptable way of life. That’s what needs prevention and control. That’s what needs to be fixed.

Getting a gun because you fear a Paris style attack ain’t a good reason. Because someone’s third cousin knew a guy who knew the sister of a coworker whose neighbor got attacked ain’t a good reason. Fearful gun owners scare the crap outta me.

People who want to hunt, compete, and/or target shoot don’t scare me. People who learn to protect themselves, who practice, and who aren’t paranoid don’t scare me. People who know about violence but don’t want to add to violent culture don’t scare me. I like peace keepers more than vigilantes and nervous Nellies.

I went to the vet with some friends. They always say I’m a sick puppy.

It’s so sad that those making the laws are blind to this, even sadder to think that some are ignorant as pipey points out, ignorant to the point of affecting only the law abiding citizens. So tired of the anti-gunners feigning ignorance to the obvious. They are already illegal but we need to make more illegal, that will fix it. While arming citiznery may not be a deterrent it could possibly save lives, possibly, isn’t that one of the things anti-gunners talk about, possibly saving a life? I feel for those of you overseas who are fearful of defending yourself for fear of becoming the criminal, it’s so ridiculous to me, just beyond comprehension. Sorry.
those making these laws are neither blind nor ignorant
it is their agenda to disarm law abiding citizens for control, to weaken them, to make them powerless, and most importantly, DEPENDENT
to put citizens in jeopardy for having defended themselves is part of their overall goal
    it is, indeed, beyond comprehension
