I hear you. Got two of the “glut” SKS’s. One in 1991 ($80) and the other in 1992 ($90). (Will dig em out and post pics.)

I actually did take a look at those, but they’re harder to find and I’ve heard bad things about Keltec. Maybe they’re unfair criticisms, I honestly don’t know. I’ve never handled or shot one of their guns. Someday I’d love to get a Sub2000, but that’s a little farther down the road. If I can find one for the right price, an SU16 might be my entrance into the world of 5.56. 😎Edit to add: A quick Armslist search turned up 5 Keltec rifles for sale in Ohio. Slim pickings, and the prices are a bit much for me. It’s definitely one I’ll keep in mind and take a look at, though. Thanks!
I am not a Kel-Tec fan, but I would choose the SU-16C over an SKS any day of the week. It ain’t pretty, and it ain’t going to be very accurate beyond 2-300 yards, but the SU-16 works, and folds up nice and small.Not entirely black, but here’s the new guy:
It is definitely not a small or compact gun, that’s for sure. Now I just need to find a good place that lets me shoot all of the corrosive ammo that came with it…
Not exactly the coolest black rifle on the block, but on a whim a few months ago, I put my name on the list for a Hipoint 995TS Carbine. From everything I read and all of the videos I watched, they are a reliable little plinker. The biggest complaint I hear is the limited ammo capacity (10 rounds). With transfer to my FFL, it’s gonna cost $350 out the door. Since I’ve got nearly 2k rounds of 9mm laid up, I figure I’ll have some fun with it when it gets here. Plus I feel a lot more confident shooting 9mm in my back yard versus a higher power rifle. Waiting….GRRRR.
I look at the rifles on here and I salivate. You guys have some very nice kit. I went into Wal-Mart today and they had three Colt 6920s, including a sweet FDE model for $1147. I was thinking that might make a great early grad school graduation present to myself, but I held off. I want an AR-15, but the thoughts of decking it out (optics, mags, grips, etc.) and going back on the ammo trail hunting very elusive 5.56 just doesn’t appeal to me right now. Maybe in a few more months when the ammo shortage gets better, I’ll pick up a Rock River in the $1000 range.
Remember the days when you could get one of these plus 1100 rds. of copper washed ChiCom ammo for about $190 bucks?
Went back to Wally World this morning, but alas the Colts were gone. Why oh why didn’t I have my credit card in my wallet yesterday! They had a Bushmaster, but I’m gonna hold off for a 6920. Might as well buy once, and cry (loudly) once…lol.

This is not my pic but this is the same setup and looks identical to the bushmaster I picked up for 700 bucks a few weeks ago. I plan on doing a few upgrades on it in the near future.
( I wish I had the case)Those cases aren’t actually too bad of a price ($99) locally at my academy . I considered one for my guns but bought two pelican cases (1750 &1700)
That bush looks good only things I’d personally change if it was mine is either a magpul str/ubr and a flattop upper for my reddot

I like my AR-15 but I love this rifle.PSA Mid length upper with a 14.5″ barrel and a pinned and welded YHM muzzle break. YHM quad rail with Surefire 9P, rail covers and foregrip from Blackhawk, YHM flip up rear sight. York Arms lower, PSA LPK, Ergo grip and a Sully stock with QD attachments for my Spec-Ops sling.
But I had to get rid of it :unsure:
