KeymasterPicture heavy!
I’ve had the Vanquest Falconer for about a week now and I thought I’d share some snaps and my overall impressions. This was my first Vanquest bag and to be honest I was a bit weary over buying a Vanquest bag since I didn’t know much about the brand. After spending a bit on their website I was pleased to find out that the former co-founder of Maxpedition went on to create Vanquest. I’ve owned a few Maxpedition bags and so I knew I would be getting a solid product. Once it arrived I found the quality to be even better (in my opinion) over Maxpedition.
I initially hit up the website to buy one of their FATPack first aid kits (largest size 7×10). It was on a fire sale and after buying that, I ended up spending more time on their site and came across the Falconer 27. I wasn’t initially looking for a new bag but was mulling over the idea as I found my Camelbak Rubicon, although awesome, far too big once I got it loaded up with everything I needed. The Rubicon is a 47L bag. The Falconer is 27L. So I knew I would be going down in size but believed that it was just the right amount of space.
Once it arrived I was extremely pleased with the look (Black Multicam 500D) and the amount of space upon first glance. Once I got it loaded up I quickly found that with the included organization, I no longer needed to use my pouches that I had. I was able to move my gear from the pouches and took advantage of the stellar organization that is BUILT IN to the Falconer.
This bag geared toward the organized EDC’r. Totally me! I can’t stand clutter and haphazardly tossing stuff in my bags and going. I believe there is a place for everything and this bag takes care of that. I also loved the amount of Velcro included. As you can see in my photos, I have attached my Velcro gun holster, the FATPack (with included FREE MOLLE-Air panel) and numerous patches with room to spare. One thing I did add to the bag was the name tape panels on the inside bag (rations, power, and my “pew pew” tag). I’m sure most of you know but just in case, the POWER has my 26000 Anker portable battery with lightning cable, the RATIONS has small snacks and the PEW PEW was one I was having a little fun with
There is a lot of included elastic webbing and elastic tie down rope which contributes to the organization of the bag so you can set it up to your liking. There is an included area on the back which one could put a water bladder in but I did notice that once it’s loaded up (like mine) it would be very hard to put one in. You COULD put a bladder in the main compartment as there is a bladder tube opening leading outside but then you would be sacrificing other items you might want to take with. So it’s a trade off. Also worth noting is that “secret” space for a tablet. It barely fits my iPad Pro 12 inch without case though. I’m sure any smaller tablet would fit with ease even with a case so most are okay in that department.
Zippers are nice and solid and glide with ease and the bag sits nice and tight against your back with options to adjust and synch down to your liking as well. There is an included waist strap but I found it more or less useless so I removed it.
Overall I am very VERY happy with the bag. It looks great and holds everything nicely. At almost 200.00, it might be a bit steep for some but I must say that at the end of the day, it was totally worth it!
