KeymasterSo I’ve finally worked up the courage to submit my FAK for constructive criticism.
I usually carry it inside my All Hazards Prime pack, but I chose the BLACKHAWK drop leg medical pouch so that I wouldn’t have to when I’m backpacking or just hiking or whatever. I like to have carry options. It is a little big for an EDC FAK, but I keep band-aids and other boo-boo fixers in my MaxPed EDC pouch, so this is supposed to be my more extensive kit. I keep this with me during neighborhood kid playdates, anytime I volunteer with my church on an outing, or some other time when I am in a sizeable group that may require aid, like a family reunion at a park. Everything in this pack is either something I have used in the field, or something that I wished I had during an actual field situation. A few items are for personal use (The tegaderm is mostly for line care of my PICC, but doubles as a suitable wound dressing). My experience is as a Park Ranger, EMT, Scout Leader, and father. I live and operate in Minnesota, and so my experience and training is based on standards set by the NREMT, the EMSRB (Minnesota regulatory body) and the AHA. I would like to add a CAT to the kit now that I have been trained in their use and am authorized to use them, but I might just put that in my car kit.
