Finally After Several Years Wait Oakley Comes Out With There Much Anticipated X-Metals.

I had been waiting for some time to see the replacement for my loved X-Metal Juliets. And had no idea even after checking in the Oakley forum every month or so the new version had come out.

So Saturday the wife wanted to exchange some clothes and use some of her birthday coupons at the Florida mall which is tourist nightmare of overcrowding. So I reluctantly decided to go and

thought I would hit the nice watch stores they have get a coffee and do some people watching of the interesting characters from around the world walking by. So I notice the Oakley store and the once a year 30% off they offer once a year and I see the sign and display saying X-Metals. The first sunglasses I see day Madman. My heart sunk and the sunglasses looked like a twisted nightmare of craziness. And then I see the second display with the X-Metals Badman and at first still not happy because I guess I was expecting something more in the style of the original Juliets. They had several different color lenses and frames to choose from but liked I preferred the all black. Tried them on and knew I had to have them. Specially when they were a hundred dollars off for a four hundred dollar pair of sunglasses. Light as a feather and they fit great.

Instead of the traditional coin they used to give for the X-Metals they gave this hard case with a felt inside that is supposed to look like a handle grip on a motorcycle. But in my opinion looks like something from the set of Star Wars. I find some use for it but would have much preferred the cool coins they used to make.

The traditional Oakley case cleaning cloth they have always given.

I can see just a hint of DNA from the Juliets in these new sunglasses with a lot of new modern tech in them.

The new frames are a combination of die cast aluminum and what Oakley calls unobtainum.

The bridge gives you a nice slight flex and has rubber nose pads that can be replaced.

The hinges for the temple are the smoothest working I have ever felt. They almost feel like they are floating in position when you use them. Just fantastic! And the ear pieces have rubber slip ons that also can be replaced.

Side by side view of the brothers. The Badmans for sure give more face coverage. Where the Juliets probably could fit any face maybe the Badmans would not? Even though the Juliets were made of some kind of titanium mixture they are heavy compared to the Badmans.

I will never part with my Juliets but the new version is quite fantastic with just a hint of sadness they did not make a aluminum version of the Juliets. Who knows maybe in the future so they can get me to drop four hundred dollars?

And just another note all other Sunglasses I have worn fog up when I get hot but never my Juliets and after a bike ride while my better half runs the Badmans also do not fog. That makes them keeper just for that!

Also picked me up what I thought was a really cool Oakley carabiner. They had a hundred dollar version and three hundred dollar special edition version that I like but they were really big. And of course my Oakley watch in the background adding to my Oakley collection.
