Here’s a better picture of a FDE Glock taken outside. The natural light really makes the gun pop, and I added a few filters for fun!

Lane Owens @ Cold Bore Customs is excellent!

Here’s another one of my favorite (honest-to-goodness) gunsmiths who knows how to stipple a Glock: Alberto Perez @ Gorilla Gunworks, LLC

Awesome work!!! May I ask how you get the razor-sharp edges of your stippled areas? Well done!!

A whole bunch of nice looking G19’s here! I have a G19 as well and I’m thinking of getting Zev / GlockWorx to do a grip reduction and stipple job in the coming months.

save yourself some time and money, and do it yourself in only the areas that you think need the extra grip.

Firing your gun enough can void a warranty? Did I read that right? Which manufacturer does that?

😉 If you credibly log 30K+ rounds, your warranty will generally be void. Most weapons have a “lifespan” of around 50K, at which time major components (those that would be covered by warranty) need to be replaced.

FWIW, I learned that stippling a Glock apparently makes it ineligible for use in GSSF matches — in case you were planning
to win another Glock with it! 😉

I really like the way you stippled the glock 19 and left the finger grooves. How much do you charge and how can I get in contact with you!

Skateboard tape is what I use. Takes some effort to remove, but it most certainly can be removed.

So I’ve book this post for a while and finally decided to stipple a gun. I really liked the work of DakotaGlockGuy and I tried to replicate his design. I practiced for about an hour on kydex getting down a technique. I used my grinder and made various tips for the iron. I used painters tape to place a design on the gun and then used a metal edged ruler to help creating a straight line. The metal ruler really helped as I made light taps right up to the edge of the ruler.

I didn’t grind any of the raised edges of the Glock with a dremel tool like some people show on YouTude. My technique was simple – lightly tap the gun working in a 0.5 – 0.75 inch area at a time. Then I would rotate the gun 90 degrees and repeat until I was back to my starting position. By lightly taping at four different positions, it was really easy to blend from each spot to the next. I increased the pressure a bit in the areas I wanted rougher… Finger tips and Palm. I did not press the iron or make small holes… Simply tapping the gun with a hot iron.

SportScout you did a nice job! My only critique would be I would not have gone that far up the back strap, especially under the “beaver tail”. I had one of the add on beaver tail adapters and decided to lightly stipple it before installing it to a older generation G19. I used one time, shooting around a 150 rounds. Chewed the web of my hand up good.

When I finally stippled the frame, I stopped at the same level as the factory texture. I have been pleased with the results.

If you don’t want to void your warranty you can use skate board tape and there is a thing called talongrip it’s like a grip sticker for your glocks

I had a friend of mine stipple my Glock26. His first job was excellent also. The guy is an A&P mechanic and is very meticulous in what he does. He learned by stippling 10 round Glock mags and tested the different tips on the soldering iron. My G30SF may be next.

    SportScout,

Very nice job! Your lines are crisp, and your texture looks very grippy, too.

If you are going to do the texture all the way up the backstrap, make sure you knock down the area where the grip tang meets the top web of your hand (between your thumb and first finger) with some sand paper. I texture all the way up the backstrap to cover up the contouring I do to that area. After I’m done, I knock the texture down so that it almost feels smooth. You can tell there is just a bit of texture there, but you really can’t feel it. That’s by design though. That area is very sensitive, and if you don’t smooth out that texture, it will rip up your hand in no time.

Stippling to me is the easy part. The time-consuming part is the grinding part, where I take off the stock texture, finger humps, etc. and re-shape some key areas like the trigger guard. To me, THAT is where the transformation happens, and that’s the reason a Gen 3 Glock feels totally different when I’m done with it, than it did when it was stock.

    Keep up the good work!
