Hat/Lapel Pins: security and sources

Hi folks, I’ve been considering adding some hat pins to my EDC bag, but I don’t want to lose them. I used to have a pink ribbon pin on my bag but it must have snagged something and gotten torn off, as it was curiously missing one day.

During my obligatory pre-thread searching, I actually found a product that hopes to solve such problems:

Any ideas? Any experience with this or other techniques? The first link above says made in the USA, which is nice.

Also, for pin fans: do you have any good sources other than trade shows? I’m particularly interested in EDC/outdoors/gear-related brand and product pins: knives, guns, tools, tech, etc. and in official, company-sanctioned products.

I haven’t found much, but hk-usa.com sells pins. Dan from Plaza Cutlery had/has a small collection of knife-related pins, but I think the page was taken down so maybe they aren’t for sale anymore.
