I just got a TN12 2016 on Saturday, direct from Thrunite without batteries. My brother said he would give me a Thrunite 18650 battery, since he had extras and a extra MCC-2 charger. He brought the charger over, he forgot the battery, so I went to Batteries Plus and bought a 18650 2200 mah (it was all they had- I wanted a 3400mah). Put battery in flashlight, it worked GREAT. Messed around with it for MAYBE 2 minutes of ON time. Light worked in every function. Battery has a built in protection circuit according to Batteries Plus. I did NOT put battery in backwards, FYI.
I took out the battery, put it in MCC-2 charger overnight, took it out, put in the TN12, now when you click the endcap switch, the LED flashes one quick flash about 1/20 of a second, and that is it every time you click the endcap.
I took the battery back to Batteries Plus to exchange, they got another battery off shelf, it did the same failure. So I got a refund.
I was going to contact Thrunite to return light, but found a twinpack of Rayovac CR123A batteries in my drawer from a camera I used to own, so I put those in AND THE LIGHT WORKS AGAIN!
So my question is, do you think Batteries Plus had 2 dud batteries, or was I doing something wrong? I can’t ask my brother for 2 more days, in his job he is incommunicado.
