From an earlierĀ thread, my nephew was recently diagnosed with type 1. At home, he has a basket that has his 2 different vials of insulin that he takes daily, about 20 needles, calculator, and 2 blood testing kits. At school, there is another arrangement that works ok.
We know WHAT he needs, the question is HOW to pack it for camping trips. Either short weekend trips or week long summer camps. For any trips, it needs to be assumed that there will be a hike in. With that said, just how does everyone pack their stuff? Pelican cases with the foam inserts adjusted accordingly, throwing dart cases, fishing tackle organizers? Small toolboxes?
Besides the main kit, does anyone keep a set of backup needles with their primary FAK. As the Uncle and Scoutmaster, do I need to carry an extra set of needles?
Thanks in advance. My nephew has taken everything in great strides. He has gained about 20 pounds in the last month with few changes in his diet. The weight has filled in the gaunt look in his face and he actually looks younger and far healthier. His energy level has climbed dramatically and has a great outlook on things.
