How to edc a keyboard

I’ve done some searching and really haven’t found a good solid answer to this…

I’m considering buying a Bluetooth keyboard to pair with my Kindle Fire HD 7-inch. I’ve read positive reviews on several, so finding the keyboard won’t be the issue. CARRYING the keyboard will be another story.

This would be carried in a backpack. I don’t want to carry it loose for fear of breaking off keys, etc. Even a padded case doesn’t sound adequate, unless it was very padded.

Does anybody carry a keyboard in some kind of hard case — aluminum, maybe? Since I wouldn’t want a lot of wasted space, I’d like to find one that would fit the keyboard perfectly and then could be slid into the backpack without excess bulk.
