11 years ago, I went with my wife and her family to Florence, Italy. We don’t travel much, and that trip was a big deal for us. We did not have a lot of money, and we did not buy many souvenirs. One of the few things I got for myself was a pen I found in an art supply shop. It was my favorite pen ever.
I used this pen a lot, and at some point probably during a busy trial, it got lost. I don’t think I’ve seen it for over seven years, even though I have looked for it many times. I would have replaced it, but a new one would’ve cost me upwards of $75 (I think I paid 20 or €30 for it).
Just this morning, I was cleaning up my daughter’s room, and I came across a portfolio that I had let her use for pretend play. Before putting it away, I searched through all the pockets and I found my pen, though I could have sworn that I had looked through that portfolio many times before searching for it.
Behold: The Lamy Spirit.

Happy happy. Joy joy.
I want to see your favorite pens. Not necessarily the one that writes the best or is the most ergonomic, But the one that has the most emotional value for you.
