Impulse noise blocking earplugs

It’s not really a firearms question per se, but you are probably the best suited group to answer my question. I’m looking for an ear plug that will block loud impulse noises, e.g. rivet guns and impact wrenches, but still allow me to hear conventional level (<80 db) sounds. I’ve seen various earplugs that promise to do that, but none that are consistently praised.

These seem to break down into three groups:
Foam plug with a hole through it: (Surefire EP3,4,and 7), Peltor 3M combat earplugs, (homamde)foamies with an acoustic tube installed through it.
Internal baffles: Sensgard SG-26, Radian cease fire
Filtered or “tuned” musician’s plugs: Hearos (my EDC earplug), Etymotic ER-20

Any recommendations or favorites?
