Investigator Pen thread pitch

Somewhere on the way to the bus this morning the end piece came off my stainless Investigator pen. It’s always been a bit loose, much to my annoyance, and even with a bit of Teflon tape I had on there while waiting to find a bottle of Loctite it worked its way free. 🙁

I don’t feel like paying $12 plus shipping for another part that is just as likely to fall out so I’m wondering if anyone has measured the diameter and thread pitch of that end. I’m thinking I might just replace it with a set screw and be done with it.
