The Karas Kustoms Retrakt is shipping out to Kickstarter backers. I received my aluminum version pen yesterday and it is truly a beautiful piece of work. Unfortunately, I tried to load a Parker refill, but the point would not extend past the tip of the pen opening. The G2 refill would not work, either. It seems to pen opening is just a tiny bit too small. Reading the Kickstarter page, I discovered that others were having the same problem. Epic fail!
One of the Kickstarter backers, David Clark, posted that he took a Dremel tapered grinding stone and used it by hand to fix the problem. I was reluctant to try this, but finally decided to give it a go. It was easier than expected. Gently turning the grinding stone by hand from the outside of the pen opening about a dozen times was enough to rectify the problem. The Parker and G2 refills now fit perfectly. Obviously, not everyone will have a Dremel tapered grinding stone on hand, but I’m sure Karas Kustoms will make it right for them.
