Lamy 2000.. my first piston filler.

Got a new Lamy 2000 fountain pen yesterday. Hands down the best pen I’ve ever owned. Smoothest, yet sharpest, pen I’ve ever used. The extra fine nib is amazing.

This being my first piston operated pen, I’m a bit disappointed by how much ink I get all over the nib and end of the pen when filling it with ink. Is there a way to refill this without getting ink everywhere or a way to clean off the nib after filling?
