So I am having a problem with a new Leatherman Juice S2 (original model).

When I go to close the pliers, one side of the plier head gets in the handle between two of the drivers and locks the tool up, meaning it will not close. The only way to close the tool is to hold the pliers closed while closing the handles around it – a pretty un-elegant affair.

I have worked out it’s because the pliers have enough friction between them to force the plier head into a gap it shouldn’t be going into before they are pushed shut, if they were looser I’m sure they would shut before it got to the point of it locking up.

I know other people have had this problem before, so I wanted to ask..

    1. Is there a known fix for this issue?

    2. Can you take the Juice models apart?

They don’t have the Security Torx screws like on the bigger tools and I don’t want to risk voiding the warranty unless I’m sure I can fix it. If you can I’m pretty sure if I just swap the driver bits around the plier head will then rest on the longer driver when closing and have nowhere to go, thus shutting the pliers.

Hope that makes sense, please help.

I’ve also emailed Whitby to see what advice they have to offer.
