I thought I might post pics of my storage setup for critique and comment. I believe that home safety is extremely important. If others want to post their setup that would be great. I want to generate some discussion and if I can steal a good idea from one of you, even better.

I have two setups. The extra handguns, rifles and shotguns go into a standup Browning safe unloaded. I store my duty and off duty guns in my closet. I have a routine I follow pretty religiously. The guns come off first thing when I get home unless I’m headed out again. I do not leave my house without one of these strapped on unless I’m planning on having a beer. In that case they stay home and mommy drives.

The thought process behind the closet setup is to keep the pistols out of the hands of my 3 and 5 year old kids. I realize that it makes them useless for home defense. However, I live in a rural community with basically no violent crime. I’m playing the odds.

Both pistols get padlocks behind the triggers. The SIG has a dedicated holster, and the Glock just gets it slapped on. The combos are different. I don’t unload them because I was getting setback on the rounds after a time, and I think that minimizing handling in the house is safer.
