LM Tti Charge holster question

I’ve done a search for about an hour here on the forums and can’t find the answer, soooo…

What the heck would one use the elastic channels running down each side of the Charge holster? I want to put the bit extension one of these, but am certain it will eventually just slide out the bottom. I’m considering trimming these extra, seemingly useless, elastic parts off my holster since it seems anything put there will just fall out. Anyone know what they are supposed to be used for?

Edit: I tried to edit the photo with an arrow pointing to the elastic, but for some reason, the original photo uploaded. Hopefully, those familiar with this holster will know what I’m getting at.
