KeymasterHello everyone!
I really would appreciate your opininion on this:
I’m a family doctor in the Netherlands. For house calls I have to carry some basic medical gear.
At the moment I’m using an old fashioned leather medical bag. Great classic looks and I’m not ditching it, but whenever possible I like to do rounds on my bike (Holland is a bike friendly country and I’m a bike nut) and it’s just not suited for that . Nor is the daypack I tried for it. In my days as an Army doc I’ve used a trauma pack, but I think it’s a bit large for this kind of deployment.
I do have emergency gear with me to start stabilising the patient, but the emphasis of my job is more on diagnostics and long term treatment than emergency medicine…
The collegue on call will handle any emergencies and bring oxygen, defibrillator etc. and if it’s me on call I’ll just use the car like normal people do.
I think I’m looking for a medical bike messenger sort of bag, easy to put on and off, lots of compartments, you get the picture.
I was thinking along the lines of a Maxped gearslinger, but which type (Malaga or Sitka maybe)?
Also I’d like to be able to mount my personal EDC (e.g. in a Neatfreak pouch?).
OK, my inventory:
Medical: stethoscope; BP-meter; penlight; headlamp; otoscope; bloodglucose meter; neurological hammer and tuning fork; ear thermometer; disposable gloves; emergency medication kit; saturation meter; face mask for emergency ventilation; pen; trauma scissors; suturing kit; IV kit; prescription paper.
Personal: LED flashlight; folding knife; small multitool; cellphone; pen; USB-stick; PDA; wallet. What bag would you recommend? Thanks!
(Hope you don’t mind me putting this under EDC bags AND First Aid Station to get the expertise of both groups of users).
