I got a new Ipod about a year ago and it’s already on its way to being worn out. The screen has multiple dead pixels (not a big deal since it’s for sound) and the audio jack is so worn that it doesn’t register except in certain positions. Kinda disappointing since my old one lasted about 6 years. Durability is a pretty big factor for me in choosing electronics.
Mainly I use the mp3 player for podcasts, so it would have to either work with Itunes or a comparable podcatcher, hopefully with as little effort as possible. I have a relatively small music collection that doesn’t get much play. I have had issues/minor annoyances with Itunes and the way the new Ipod play podcasts, mainly the autoplay feature being unable to turn off.
I have considered using my phone as a podcast player, but I prefer having a separate device for podcasts so I don’t risk draining the battery or damaging the phone.
So, all that being said, any suggestions? What do you folks use? Both in terms of hardware and software.
