So the Saddleback small bifold as well as the Lambert unifold proved too thick and I was in market for new wallet – thin, but made of quality leather. Now these two conditions are contradictory somewhat, so had a difficult time during my initial search. And then two weeks ago I came across a relatively new leather shop based in the San Diego area… Mr Lentz. Yes, that’s the name of the maker as well as his brand.

His minimal leather wallet (traditional) style satisfied both conditions, and also made it “stitch free”. As an added bonus, I could get a grommet hole – something that I’ve always wanted, but the wallets with grommet hole were thick and beastly looking biker wallets! For $75 all in, I received it within a week of placing the order. Mr. Lentz was very responsive (since grommet hole wasn’t standard on his wallets if you do not opt for chain), and was very pleasant all through.

The wallet arrived with a paper strap wrapped around it and also attached was a small tin of Mr. Lentz Spiff N’ Shine – leather conditioner. Nice touch. It was stiff when loaded, but within a few days softened to adapt to my butt. My current configuration has about 8-10 bills and 6 cards, and it tucks away nicely in back pocket. So far I am loving the look and feel and it certainly is a head turner – I have had quiet a few folks enquire about it at workplace.

I’ll update the review as time passes, but I feel confident this wallet will take all that life throws at it, and some more. Mr. Lentz has a few other wallet configurations as well. Google for his name, and you’ll get to his shop/site.

Here are a few pictures of the wallet in western brown color (walnut husk is used as a dye, giving the wallet a fantastic color and appearance)…
