I used to use a 5.11 Rush 24 as my bag for EDC/GHB but I found that it was too big since it still had a lot of space inside. The Rush 24 was comfortable to wear but I was looking for a smaller bag and one that I could also use as a day bag for travel or for day hikes.

I recently purchased a TAD Litespeed for use as an EDC/GHB Bag. I was looking for a bag that could hold my laptop and other EDC items as well as my get home items in case of a major catastrophe (i.e. Massive 8+ earthquake) here in Los Angeles that would necessitate that I would walk home from work (a distance of roughly 40miles).

The Litespeed is way more comfortable than the Rush 24 in carrying my items. To give you an idea of what’s inside my Litespeed, here are a few pictures.

A pic of the tiny admin area of the litespeed. The Rush series of backpacks are superior in this area. I keep a few pens, sunglasses cleaning cloth, iphone headphones and some pain relievers here.

All in all, the litespeed is the most comfortable backpack I have to date and it will serve as a great EDC/GHB for my purposes. The straps are very comfortable despite the weight of hauling almost 20+ lbs. The mesh pockets are stiff and will not easily tear. The transporter tail is a great accessory since it allows me to carry stuff like documents in ring binders or in document envelopes that would not fit inside the back or would be deformed if I did due to the other items inside.

The only drawbacks I see is that:

It is heavy for a pack this size. I am sure there will be other packs that will be way lighter. The molle may attract some looks however I have never noticed anyone looking at me strangely here at the office or the building.

It does not have any sleeve or compartment for a hydration bladder. I was planning on also using this as a day hiking pack but I guess I will have to be content with my Dakine Nomad which is a great pack for hiking/Mt Biking. Although TAD will be coming out with accessories, this will mean an additional expense not to mention also if they are available since these will probably be out of stock faster than the speed of light:)

It does not have a waist belt. I prefer having a waist belt or stabilizing strap for heavy loads since it helps keep the pack stable on your your back.

Despite all these negatives, I am happy with my purchase since it fulfills the main needs I was looking for in a pack – one that would be my EDC/GHB pack.
