Hi, all. I have been away for a while but I dropped in tonight for advice. I need a light for my fiance. She hikes with a group. They do night hikes that last 2-3 hours. They use flashlights, but the protocol is to use moonlight modes only unless there is an emergency. They try not to disturb the wildlife or tranquility of the hike with high-power torches. I had given her a Maratac AS A copper because I love mine as an edc light. But I do not run mine for hours on end. The light does not have sufficient heat sink to handle that.
So, what I need are recommendations for a single AA light that can run on moonlight mode for hours on end without over heating but also has a high mode when needed. Simple is better. Budget is $80. Thanks!
