Hi I want to buy a pair of walkie talkies. I will be using them in a wooded area on a mountain with very few other people around. I need an actual usage range of about one mile in this terrain. From what I have seen I can get by with FRS and limited channels. I don’t see the need for GMRS here and for my usage I do not need weather alerts. Water resistant and good durability are pluses. Motorola seems to have the best reputation, but I am not sure about that. I would like the ability to recharge the handsets. I don’t plan on using headphones with it. Most of the better quality models seem to be loaded with all the bells and whistles, so if I have to get them it will be OK, as they only seem to be around $20 more or so per set. Can anyone recommend walkie talkies given these conditions?
