KeymasterHello fellow forumites,
I am pretty excited about finishing up a personal project and have decided to celebrate by purchasing a new pen. I even have my wife’s blessing…well not really blessing….and I’d feel henpecked if I said permission…Let’s just say that my wonderful wife has resigned herself to the fact that I will soon be buying “another overpriced gadget.”
maximum budget is in the $150-200 range.
I have been using a Rick Hinderer Extreme Duty pen for years. I got if before it was sold as just a pen. (It came as part of a kubaton kit.) This is an older titanium model that uses the older smaller refills and has more threads on the cap. I never have been a great fan of unscrewing the cap, and soon I will be called on to use a pen more often for shorter times. The newer designs would be easier, but I might be ready for a change from a removable cap. (The Hinderer is already on backup duty and I have been using a SS jotter primarily for the last several months.)
I like the heft and thickness of the Hinderer extreme duty. (Mine was originally even longer, I bought the shorter barrel from Rick when he started selling the pens as stand alone items.) I am somewhat a addicted to titanium also.
Right now I am taking a hard look at Fellhoelter bolt action, Maxmadco, and Benchmade titanium 1100. I looked at the bolt action pen made by Boker, but it just doesn’t look like that integral clip will work well in shirt or jacket pocket.
I am not very picky about ink, mostly just want stuff with readily available refills. Anything else I should be looking at? or just wait for the Fellhoelter to be in stock and get one?
Thanks for any thoughts and suggestions,
Grizz
