Picked up one of these to stuff my own stocking with for Christmas (I get tired of finding the dead batteries that Santa always leaves me):

I like it. I think Nitecore has a winner here. Inexpensive (<$10), lightweight*, reasonably handy UI, re-chargeable (via usb) li-ion battery, almost exactly the same size as my Boker Keycom knife. It has replaced (maybe only temporarily, we’ll see) my Photon Micro-Light. I think this is a good light to give to someone who normally does not carry a light. The one-lumen mode is fine for navigating in the dark and the 45 lumen mode is more than adequate for finding that thingy that just rolled under the sofa.

    * – I try to keep the weight of my keychain down. My vehicle still uses a traditional key and a heavy keychain is hard on the lock mechanism.

In searching for a photo to use in this post, I ran across some comments in other forums… “I don’t like the tint.” “I don’t like the beam pattern.” “It feels cheap.” IT IS CHEAP!

Well cheese and mice, people! It’s just a simple, little keychain light. No one is expecting you to give up your super-deluxe, titanium-bodied, usb programmable, mega-lumen output light.

BTW: The usb connector on this thing is the Micro B type. If you don’t already have this type of cable for your phone, might want to consider picking up a cable at the same time (I was able to use the charger for my tv remote).
