Let me start out by saying, I AM a company man. However, I find myself in a bit of a conundrum. I’ve had my CCW for thirteen years now and I essentially carry every day. Sunday I leave for St. Louis for a week of training. Due to the holiday weekend and the fact my training course is significantly more expensive than was budgeted for, I’ll be driving from Tulsa to St. Louis. Since pool vehicles are available, I’m expected to drive one. My issue is that firearms are not allowed in company vehicles. I’ll be taking a vehicle that I do not maintain, to foreign city, on a holiday weekend all while being unarmed. I don’t like it.
In a recent security review between our upper management and our security department, firearms in company vehicles came up and it we mentioned that VP’s could approve such a thing. Our VP during the meeting that that should be a corporate decision and not his. Although it is worth mentioning, he is not anti-gun and, as far as I know, one of few foreigner ever granted permission to CCW in Argentina. I’m going to hit him up tomorrow to sign the form, but I having a feeling he is going to decline.
What is your take on this situation? What would you do if you weren’t permitted to carry? Is this a non-issue and I’m worrying for no reason?
