I have really enjoyed these forums, but I always run into the same issue. I am a diehard EDC guy. I used to call it my NWOK (never without kit) before I heard of EDC. But for me it’s about convenience and preparedness. I don’t (and can’t) carry a gun, I have a multitool but don’t have the need for a separate knife and tactical gear is fine, but I prefer things a little more understated. Am I the only one like this? I have found Tom Bihn to be my go-to for functional bags. I keep trying tactical bags (like the R12) but it never sticks.
Please don’t take this as a knock if you do carry those items I mentioned.
My EDC load is usually:
Kindle Paperwhite
headphones
waterbottle
pen, pencil, sharpie
small flashlight
Med kit:
– Advil
– toilet wipes
– bandaids
– Vaseline (works best as chapstick)
– neosporin
– floss
USB wall wart with two plugs
2 lightning cables (one converts to micro USB)
notepad
eyeglasses
sunglasses
small 10′ tape measurer
external battery for phone
iPad mini
Maxpedition pouch with:
– Leatherman wave with extra bits
– nail clippers (seki edge are the best)
– tweezers
– mini Stanley screwdriver
– small roll of duct tape
– two zip ties
– 550 cord
I haven’t found a good way to carry sunscreen. I like the small one-use packets, but I can’t seem to find them sold in small packs.
I carry all of this in a Tom Bihn Synapse 19. I have an S25 for when I carry my computer, but that’s rare. I hope to get a Tom Bihn Pilot sometime soon.
