Obstructures Aluminum Plate Wallet

Hello All,
I just wanted to post a small review on a really cool piece of gear I just acquired. It is the Obstructures Aluminum Plate Wallet. Obstructures is a Tennessee based company specializing in the design of problem solving endeavors. They use aluminum to create unique products that serve both form and function. The Aluminum Plate Wallet is a simple design consisting of either 2 or 3 aluminum plates held together by O rings. Additionally they offer passport plate systems, European plate wallets, and a plethora of different sizes and finish options. All of their systems offer RFID protection and are shipped with soft O rings which roll down allowing the wallet to open. All models are offered in both hard-coat flat black anodized and clear anodized with several colors of O rings available.

I purchased their A3S triple plate model and I am quite pleased with it. I ordered a type3 dye less finish which is a flat aluminum color. Fit and finish are superb. The anodizing is flawless and the plates are very nicely deburred and smooth. Also note that the wallet is super light since it is made of aluminum. It is quite sleek and very aesthetically pleasing. My horrible pictures really do not do it justice.

Function is also great. It takes a little time to get used to opening the wallet. When new, the o rings are a little stiff so it takes some practice rolling the o ring down and opening up the wallet. With a little practice and wear in of the o rings, one hand operation is quite simple. Another unique function of this wallet is the triangular plate. It has a built in and very functional bottle opener. Pretty neat little detail if you ask me. I have not tested to see what the capacity for this wallet is yet, but I am currently carrying 3 credit cards, 3 IDs, and 3 bills in it without any problems. It is half as thin as any other wallet I have ever carried. There are other plate wallet systems available, but through my research and following the staff at Obstructures throughout their manufacturing process I am confident that I made the right choice. I couldn’t be happier with this wallet so far. It is cool looking, functional, and minimal which fits all of my needs in a wallet.

The pry tool in the photos is another cool piece of gear offered by Obstructures. It is made of stainless steel and features a pry bar, a pocket clip, both large and small flat head screwdrivers as well as a bottle opener. It is a unique little tool that can be purchased in 2 different sizes.Obstructures also includes a cable ring for those that do not wish to use the pocket clip.

I am an Active Duty Soldier and I find the design of the wallet to be very durable for those of us that require such.
