On use by/best before dates and medical supplies

So, I was revising my PSK and FAK, and noticed some supplies are past their use by date. Like band-aids, alcohol swaps, bandages, painkillers etc. They’re still unused and have never been opened (well, most of them).

I guess my question is: how serious do I need to take these dates? I hate throwing (seemingly) good stuff away.
