KeymasterLike most of you I’m very particular about my edc objects. Which is why I’m asking people more knowledgable than I am about which specific flashlight to pick up. Currently I’m carrying a mini maglight led aa on a belly pouch next to my leatherman wave but I saw where people have been putting flashlights I the little pouch on the side if the leatherman wave holster and thought. That’s not a bad idea and I’ve been looking for another option anyway because of one specific problem I have with the maglight which I’ll address in a moment. Like I said like most of you I’m very particular on edc items and if you have an idea of something that doesn’t ft in the little pouch on the side of my holster but fits all the other catagories feel free to voice because the one problem had killed this flashlight for me.
1. I’m a metal worker and when checking for burrs or rust the mini mag led pro is way too bright to use on recently ground metal. Meaning one requirement is nothing above like 40-50 lumens.
2. standard battery. I use my flashlight a lot. And go through 2-3 sets of batteries a week. So either aa or aaa.
3. I would prefer a twist design like on the mags but a really stiff or recessed button is okay. I carried the mag xl50 for a short period of time and why I stopped is because the button is really sensitive and would come on when I didn’t want it to.
4 water/oil proof. More specifically I’m a machinist and cooling oil or water is constantly hitting this thing.
5. And most importantly. No rubber, at all, anywhere. The cutting oil. Turns rubber to mush. So other than the Sealing rings (which I keep a couple sets of for the mag). I can’t have rubber handles or button covers or anything like that. I’ve already ruined a couple cheap flashlights and a pair of scissors and an otterbox. I’ve learned my lesson.Thank you guys very much. Any input is appreciated. And like I said if you have an idea that’s bigger feel free to tell me. My first idea is the maglite solitaire led but if your thinking “that thing is crap get this instead go right ahead. As stated any input is appreciated.
Thank you
