KeymasterWhat fault do you find with this pack? Maybe I can change your mind! Or maybe you’ll ruin it for me

KeymasterI don’t think I’ve looked at that one too closely, but I know I don’t like the compression strap setup.
Me not liking something doesn’t mean it’s bad….I’m REALLY picky about bags.

KeymasterThat’s a fair observation. The compression straps are more there to support the pack structure than to synch the contents in. The main compartment only has about an 18ltr capacity, the rest being the side pockets imo.

KeymasterMakes sense. It also depends on how the bag opens.
My new litespeed is a GREAT bag, my favorite backpack (narrowly edging the trident-20). But the transporter tail puts the upper straps in a similar place. And it drives me nuts to have to un-clip it to get to my edc things…which are at the bottom because the stuff I carry won’t fill it. If it were permanently attached, I’d have returned the bag on day 1.
With it being removable, I think it’s a great option when I use it for travel or if I add gear to make it more of a ghb or go bag…as long as I can put other things in the bottom so my edc gear sits up higher.
Really my ‘problem’ with arcteryx is with their pants. I like a lot of their pockets, but no pair of pants has all the ones I want and none that I don’t.

KeymasterThat’s funny you mentioned that about the top quick release buckles on the Litespeed because that was the main reason I never pick that bag up. I’m glad the newer version remedied that problem on the top portion removing the addition top buckles, but I felt with the transporter tail on there that it would become very annoying to release the buckles each time I intended to access the main contents.
Just a suggestion incase you have yet to consider it.. You could always get an organizer pouch and attach it to the from outside molle with the tail removed and store some of your more frequently accessed items without having to dig to the bottom of the bag. I’m assuming the top admin pocket is not working for you items?

KeymasterThe top admin pocket works GREAT for me. It just doesn’t hold big/bulky things that I do use like my battery, Vape, and tool kits (which are in organizers in the bag).
I have thought about an external pocket, but I think what I’m doing now works fine (check my thread for details). With the TT off, I can just half-unzip either the bag or just one side and get to what I need. And the zippers/material seem good enough to stand up to it…hopefully I won’t ruin it like that.
With it on, I also have to un-clip the TT, which is frustrating. It might be worth it if the pocket on the TT were upside down from how it is so I could use it for water bottles or whatever. As it is, I’ll probably only use it when the bag is more full and my edc stuff is up towards the top (which, ironically, will hold things tighter in the admin pocket).
I should probably try it with just the straps, though. I just took everything off when I decided against the TT.
And, yes, I have the v2…I love the suspension straps but would have hated the buckles.
I have thought about possibly trying a kifaru urban zippy…but I don’t think it’ll be as comfortable. And I think it was an absolutely thoughtless and asinine design decision for the side pockets to open into the main compartment. The whole point of side pockets is so you don’t have to go through and potentially spill out all your stuff.
I want to try one while I’m still in the return period on my litespeed…but I can’t really justify a $300+ bag that would go straight to a tailor if I decided to keep it.

KeymasterI don’t know, I bet the main pocket is closer to 23 or 24. The two side pockets can hold a 3 liter bladder each, so I gave them a total of 6L. Take that off of 30, and you have 24. The top pocket may be a liter or so, so maybe take the main pocket down to 23. It feels pretty close to the interior size of my GR1.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I actually have the Khard as well, and it has been my daily for a while now. I agree with your assessment of the compression straps though. You can use them to compress the pack, but it distorts the hell out of it due to the zipper giving the pack a certain shape and the panels themselves having a stiffness to them.

KeymasterGuys the reason y i am throwing rocks in it is to give it weight. I wanna see how tough this bag really is.
I had the same bag in a sand stone colour which i used in my hunting trips. I went through :censored: with the other bag which is y i wanna test it out even more just to prove how tough it really is….Tom
