KeymasterJust got this last week:
December 17, 2025 at 11:57 am #135841admin
KeymasterWhere can I find that bag? I don’t see it available for sale on any US websites.

KeymasterIt’s only available in Japan as far as I know. It’s the Urban Assault pack, due to be released in the U.S. next year but not in coyote so I snagged one up.

KeymasterWhy would they NOT release that pack in the US?
December 17, 2025 at 11:57 am #135844admin
KeymasterBecause MR is weird as :censored: that way. Is that a 24L pack like I am seeing on Rakuten?
December 17, 2025 at 11:57 am #135845admin
KeymasterYes 24L. The harness is similar to a Futura light but without the yoke, making one shoulder carry more comfortable. I think it’s perfect for the volume, any beefier and it would be too cumbersome. Internal organization is better for my EDC than the ASAP or 1DAP. Has suspended pockets for a laptop and tablet. I love the trizip because I can reach stuff at the bottom without splaying the bag open in public places.

KeymasterYeah, that’s pretty sick. I always thought the 3DAP was too big and the ASAP too small. I wouldn’t mind some external webbing of some sort though. Not necessarily MOLLE up the wazoo, but some attachment options. What kind of internal pockets does it have? Can it utilize a waist belt at all?
December 17, 2025 at 11:57 am #135848admin
KeymasterAgreed. No side pockets or compression straps either. Looks like this is limited for city/office/school use. Zero molle & compression straps severely curtails the packs versatility. Without molle & CS where would I attach my trekking poles if I decide to go snowshoeing or hiking? Where would I attach my tripod if I decided to do some photography? Where would I attach my wet rain parka? Not even a side pocket to carry my favorite water bottle, etc, etc…

KeymasterThere are actually attachment loops for a stick-it pocket or a grab-it beaver tail. There are two loops midway up the pack, two loops for attaching a waist belt, and a single row of MOLLE on the bottom. I personally wouldn’t use this pack for hiking as there is no pass-through pocket for a drink hose. I think it is strictly urban as the name implies. I’m liking it for that purpose- lets me get through crowds without loose straps or molle to attract attention, and I can throw on a beaver tail to carry that extra layer home.

KeymasterI think it would benefit greatly from some sort of a side pocket that lays flat when not in used, various sort of attachment points (daisy chain type stuff) on the outside, and compression straps of some sort. And a pass through for hydration stuff. Wouldn’t be too hard to do.
Though I have noticed that they do different versions of essentially the same pack for the various markets, so maybe something similar will happen with this one.

Keymasteri’ll agree with that statement. it looks like it’s tailored more for the non-tactical, low profile look in an urban setting. for which, i believe, is what most people who would carry a pack like this would use it. but i do think it would benefit from an attached bottle holder.
i think most people that might carry this pack, who would go hiking/camping, would probably have a dedicated pack for those actions.
it’s still a good looking pack, though. nice, low-profile look.

KeymasterMy favorite jacket, the Arcteryx Atom LT fits perfectly in the hydration compartment of my HAWG. Now it’s even more comfortable to carry!!!

KeymasterAgreed, my philosophy is to have more backcountry-specific packs instead of expecting my EDC to do it all. Ski pack, bike pack, hiking pack, urban pack, office pack, diaper pack, travel pack, all have different needs.

KeymasterIn other words you just like excuses to buy more bags 😉
