KeymasterHey all!
I’m looking to upgrade the biner and clips I currently use for my keychain, and I could use some help and info. First, here’s my current setup (info on the gear is here in my pocket dump thread if interested: http://www.edcforums.com/threads/soul777toasts-introduction-and-first-pocket-dump.127339/#post-2212578)
What I really like about the NitIze biner is the dedicated slot for clipping stuff on to, and what I’d really like to find is a higher quality biner that has something similar. I really like having all my gear on individual clips directly attached to the biner rather than to an intermediate ring, so basically I need a combination of biner & clips that will fit each other.
As for the clips themselves, I want to replace all the S-Biners with clips like the one I found for my car fob (that one came off an old picolight I had laying around), just better quality. The clips will be directly attached to the roller chain links, like this:
So to summarize, what I need is a biner with a dedicated slot for clips, and clips that will fit the biner and the roller chain. The roller chain has a width of .205″ or 5.25mm, so I’d kinda like to get clips that are on the wider side so that they fit the chain fairly closely, but I’d like to keep the length of the clips as low as possible to keep the total size down. Some possibilites I’ve looked at are the McGizmo clips, the TU keyshackle, or I MAY spring (no pun intended!
) for some Ti clips if they really look worth it.
I’d love to hear suggestions from anyone out there, and it would be extremely helpful if anyone who owns any of these type of clips could measure the width at the bottom where they’d go on the roller chain so I can figure out how they’ll actually fit. On the biner side, again I’d love to hear suggestions for a decent biner with a dedicated slot for clips. As for my budget on this, I’d say I’m in mid-range territory; I don’t mind spending on good quality gear, but I probably won’t be shelling out hundreds for a custom/designer biner. Probably $50-$100 all told?
Thanks in advance for the help!
