This is the rambler that i generally carry when at work (in an office) – as you can see in the picture, I decided to rescale it a while back in carbon fibre (partly to make it a little thinner, partly just because it seemed like a good idea).
While my plan wasn’t necessarily a bad one, my handiwork on the other hand is – I went through countless blanks to get to the scales glued on at the moment, as I found it very hard to get the holes drilled accurately enough (even using the old scale as a direct template) and I will admit my finishing isn’t the best (though to some degree not helped by the frustration of trying to drill the holes first.
At this point I am ultimately just rambling a bit, as what I am looking for is to find out what other options are there out there for similar work? Are there any obvious tricks to attempt what I did with better results, or other alternatives people have created or bought?
The other option I am tempted by would be getting a black alox mini champ, and removing a couple of layers to give me a black alox rambler, but seeing my lack of skills here makes me somewhat doubt my ability to complete the project without destroying everything…
