The pictures are horrible, I know.

I got a Rotring 600 for use at work (I’m a Product Designer) and really like the pen. I have been using Pentel P209 pencils for a while now and really got used to the 0.9mm diameter lead. I’m am happy to say the 600 in 0.7mm is just as smooth writing, if not a bit more. I have some decent 2B lead refills on their way to me, but I think they have to create the graphite from organic matter plus eons of time and pressure because they’re not going to be here until next month!

This cover is a bit of a practice piece to see how thin I can get the wood and not have splitting. This version has a .375″ OD with a .328″ (21/64″) ID that fits absolutely perfectly around the knurled grip. The OAL is 1.8″ with an inner cavity 1.7″ deep. I turned this out of a block of white oak during lunch on a small engine lathe I have access to. The crappy silver finish is just silver Sharpie, I want to paint it red to match the “Red Ring” on these pencils. I’m also thinking about getting a dowel of red Delrin and making one even thinner….

Just want to post about how thin you can make these caps and what dimensions to use if you want to do it yourself:
