So, clearly one of the most loved family of watches on here are the G-shock and others of that ilk; also (in the generic sense) divers watches. And other sports watches.

What seems eons ago, actually WAS eons ago — early 80’s through mid 90’s — I used to have some Casio digital watches and I think a very early version of the G-shock. I wore them as weekend watches rather than my good watch — a Concord Mariner SG.

The problem I had with all of them (not the Concord!) was the bands. None of the bands held up; all the bands would crack in pretty short time. Consequently I am now very leery of any of these sort of bands and do not have any watch with such.

I realize times have changed. Are the bands better now? What are the relative ‘strengths’ of these different materials for watch bands in today’s world?

    Thanks

    Moshe ben David
