As many know, OK just went open carry. I am seeing more guns. I looked at my FAK, and 4×4’s and tape are inadequate. Given Aurora and Newtown, I have to start thinking about gunshot wounds.
So I carry a first aid kit. What I want this for starts to fall in two seperate directions. Serious emergency stuff, and convenience stuff.
So here is my solution, put together a millitary style blow out bag, to wit:
1x halo seal
1x 4″ Isralie bandage
1x 6″ Isralie bandage
1x 6″ Ace elastic bandage
1x zpack gauze
1x quickclot combat gauze
1x Rush nasal airway
1 pkg surgical lube
1 mojodart 14 ga catheter
1 Sof-t touriquet
2x nitrile gloves
A pencil, some paper, and a razor blade.
So this is my trauma kit. It has been bothering me that I have been carrying around tons of gauze and tape, which I doubted would be useful for any real trauma. So given the serious stuff is covered by a seperately contaimed and maintained blow out bag, I am trying to focus my FAK on day to day needs, make it more a medical kit than a FAK.
I am starting with chinnok medical’s medication module. http://Www.chinookmedical.com. however I need to add bamdaids, moleskin, a dental kit, and whittle this down to something I can carry.
Love to hear your thoughts.
