I want everyone’s feedback on this idea, “Sick Call” would be a weekly or bi-monthly article posted to EDCF:FAS. Sick Call would cover more medical knowledge geared towards helping someone out in a EOTW scenario or just Knowledge to have. The idea came from vivek16 when he said “Buying toys and carrying them with you is not a replacement for the proper training.” He couldn’t be more right, I and many other Combat Medics train to understand how we can create what we need with what we can find or with minimal supplies.

    “Make Rocket Ships from 2×4’s”

I believe training for knowledge of how/why/when a medical task should be accomplished is just as important as knowing any fancy piece of equipment.

So my question to EDCF lay persons, meaning those with either no medical training to those without a license, would you be interested in learning so basic skills? Such as Wound dressing, what to do if someone gets something in their eye, what to do with an in-grown toe nail etc., some smaller tasks but, no doubt essential if you only have yourself or family to rely on.

To my fellow Medical Professionals; What do you think about Sick Call? There would be a disclaimer about never using what is taught unless absolutely necessary, always seek professional medical help, I or We are not responsible for anything anyone unlicensed does in lieu of seeking medical attention, etc. Would you be willing to possibly submit a small article, collaborate, or fact check?

Or is this a horrible idea and WEBMD causes enough of a headache?
