Disclaimer, I know this topic does not fit neatly into the box of “hand guns”, but what I like about this board is that the dialogue does not distill into my Chevy is better than your Ford. The knowledge base and resources here are stellar and pretty deep. So.. As I get closer to back to back to my that my career has pulled me away from I have started to research what long gun to purchase, the manufacturer isn’t really debatable at this point, its caliber. 270mag vs 300mag

I have no problem with killing, however an animal suffering is a different story, I also realize that with a poor decision/poorly placed shot caliber wont matter. I have been skilled and lucky to never lose an animal but it was always with a borrowed 270mag, or smaller white tail with my rem 6mm. As a skilled cook, I also believe that if an animal does not drop immediately that the adrenaline and movement affects the quality of the meat. The setting Montana/Wyoming. The quarry Antelope, Whitetail, Mule deer and ELk. Eating animals all, so the question would be 270mag or 300mag. Any help of feedback would be appreciated. With thanks in advance, Kfox
