Great for cutting cordage and self defense.They’re really good for ripping through cardboard and plastic packaging. It’s good for plastic clamshell packaging because the blade shape pierces the plastic easily, but is angled away from the goodies inside. And yes, the serrated versions are good for cordage as well. I find the shape good for slipping the blade between two things, such as between the flaps of a box to slice tape. I’ve never had the need thank goodness, but I could see it being good for extrication if you get tangled up in something. My only spydie so far is a yellow salt serrated hawkbill and it’s my go to locking blade when I’m out wandering around because it has a great amount of cutting power and great ergonomics in a small package. I’d love one of those usn ladybugs, but I can’t really justify one because of the price and I already have a similar one even if it doesn’t look anywhere as cool as the ones a couple posts above.
One of my favorite EDC’s, cruwear just gets ridiculously sharp and hold an edge for a very long time, even when you actually use your knife 😉
