KeymasterHello everyone!
I was one of the lucky winners of the Inchworm offered by TEC Accessories.
First of all, I must thank TEC Accessories for such a wonderful opportunity for any member of EDCF to enter the contest at no cost, and a thanks to Jon for letting them and running such a great community(The best online forum I am a part of, and their are a lot!!)
Here is a picture of how it comes:
First thoughts upon opening the package this morning was, “what a great presentation.” The little titanium ruler came inside a high quality “zip-Lock” type bag with a card that clearly explains the measurements(only shows 1/8″ increments and 3″ overall length). It really isn’t necessary to label the other markings as it’s self explanatory. Here’s a picture of the card:
The card came with a few creases probably caused during shipping, no big deal. The entire product is clean, no burs, sharp edges, etc. Very impressed with the cut grooves, here’s a close-up:
The smallest grooves are 1/8″ increments, the next size grooves are 1/2″ increments, the next ones up are 1″ increments, and the last groove is the 3″ mark. The product is made out of 6Al-4V titanium, I don’t know the exact hardness of this but I do know that Titanium is of highest quality and durability. I used all of my human strength to try to bend this but to no avail. I wasn’t willing to go out to the shop for the vices
Here is a picture of the Inchworm next to my Atwood Ruler:
They both offer great ways of small measurements but I have to give the edge to the Inchworm because of the small round diameter of 3/16″!!!! One thing that I like about my Atwood ruler is that it’s much better on flat surfaces than the Inchworm.
I believe the Inchworm really shines when you need to compare lengths of screws/nails, comparable items such as knife blade lengths under 3″. I usually have to pull out a tape measure when knife shopping because of legal reasons. Even when I am online shopping, it’s just a simple thumbnail in one of the grooves to “picture” the length of the blade. I couldn’t get a decent picture with my thumbnail in the view so I just took the picture next to a blade.
I am planning on carrying this on my keychain with a McGizmo clip for quick detachment or in my watch pocket(I think that’s what that pocket is called) above my jeans right front pocket.
A nice little touch to the bottom of the Inchworm:
Last but not least; you can pick one of these Inchworm’s up from the Forum Store
