Yep, I found a Baofeng UV-5RA (new) on Amazon and eagerly snatched it up. I also purchased USB programming cable and software (.rar) so I can run with the Prolific technology.
After trying CHIRP’s site, Miklor, and a host of others I can neither install any new drivers on my Windows 8 computer for the Prolific chip nor can I program manually via the radio’s keypad.
I know this is a hard radio to get going, but geez! Anyhow, I just wanted to complain and plead for help (if you can help). People seem to have the same questions over and over with these radios, but gosh I spent hours mulling over this with no resolution. I’m tempted to sell it or send it back.
